The government has decreed the prohibition of gatherings exceeding 100 persons.  Without the application of their minds, the governmental authors of this decree have acted irrationally. The irrationalism is the effect of panic and failure to understand the reality of the development of the disease which has been baselessly proclaimed a ‘pandemic’. If this disease is indeed a ‘pandemic’ despite the fact that not a single death has hitherto been recorded in the country, then what appellation should be given to the MURDER EPIDEMIC of 60 killings daily in South Africa?

What measures are the government instituting to combat this ruthless epidemic? Has the president called a Council of War to declare war against the Murder-epidemic and the other deluges of crime which assign the China Pig Disease into the realm of oblivion? For the edification of the government we present the list of epidemics in which the country is burning. It is a vast uncontrollable conflagration of which the government is oblivious. And its obliviousness is intensified by the deflection created by the mirage of the China Pig Disease. The attention from the real epidemics has been totally deflected.

While thousands are murdered annually in South Africa, the government reacts paranoically and acquits itself as if the country is being attacked by an enemy state. It gives the impression that the country is in a state of war. The entire pantomime saga is full of sound and fury signifying nothing.

It is necessary for the government to understand that we cannot and will not act as policemen to ensure compliance with the haraam decree of 100 persons.

We are in no position to enforce this decree. We lack the coercive power for its implementation and even if we did, our religion prohibits this injustice. Our Jumuah (Friday) prayers will not be valid if any Muslim is debarred from participation. If the government has in mind embarkation on oppression in this regard, then it should post guards/police outside the Mosques and count the Musallis. It will be left to these atheist guards to prevent the 101st musalli from entry.

It is not our job to enforce the oppression by preventing Muslims from entering the Musaajid. The government will have to do this dirty act of oppression.

We are Muslims. We are not hypocrites (munaafiqs) such as the MJC shayaateen, the Quds Temple kuffaar, and the  scoundrel trustees of the Johannesburg Mayfair  Musjid. Nor are we of the likes of the Grave Worshippers who have closed their Musjid in Pietermaritzburg. We have no right over the movement of Muslims. They are free to come to the Musaajid. Only oppressors believe that they have such a right – the right to prevent worshippers from entering the Musaajid to pray to The Creator.

We urge Mr. President and his Cabinet to apply their minds to understand the irrationality of the 100 limit decree. Thousands are allowed to gather in factories for work. Thousands gather in municipal markets and in the malls, and at taxi ranks. Yet the government most illogically permits such gatherings whilst banning the once a week prayer gatherings at Mosques which are venues where cleanliness is the hallmark. But gatherings of thousands are allowed at other venues where dirt and filth predominate, and where in terms of satanic  theory the environment is more conducive for the flourishing of  ‘contagious’ diseases.

Those ‘muslims’ who are spinelessly truckling at obsequiously lapping up just  any and all the bunkum advertised regarding the China Pig Disease should understand that they are Munaafiqeen destined for Dark-e-Asfal Fin Naar (the lowest level in Hell-Fire).

The government’s reaction to the phantom of the China Pig Disease is indeed the effect of paranoia created by the vested interests of the U.S.A. A massive conspiracy is underway. Insha-Allah, the conspiracy shall be discussed in a future article.

Firstly, the ‘pandemic’ declaration is a lot of hogwash. It is a red herring creation of the U.S. colonial power. This disease has not reached epidemic proportions as is deceptively claimed. The following chart debunks the satanic myth:

Corons virus 2,360
Common cold 69,602
Malaria 140,584
Suicide 153,696
Road accidents 193,479
HIV (Zina disease) 240,950
Alcohol 358,471
Smoking 716,498
Cancer 1,177,141
Relative to the massive amounts of deaths due to other causes and diseases, the death toll due to the China Pig Disease is negligible or even non-existent.

The president reported that hitherto there are 61 corona disease cases, not 61 deaths. In the entire population of the country 61 cases have been found. But the president has been silent, not even batting an eyelid at the number of deaths due to the MURDER epidemic in South Africa. While 61 corona-affected persons have been discovered in South Africa, in the year 2018 20,336 people were murdered in the country. In 2019, 21,022 were murdered.

Now what has attained epidemic proportions – the 61 cases who are still alive, or the tens of thousands already murdered at the rate of more than 20,000 per year. In South Africa approximately 60 people are murdered daily, and there are 50 attempted murders daily.

What measures and what Command Committee has the president organized to eliminate this disastrous murder epidemic in front of which the Pig disease victims pale into oblivion? These issues shall be more elaborated in future discussions, Insha-Allah. For the present we have to deal with the unjust imposition of curbing religious gatherings to a mere 100 persons.

While we are now not allowed to have more than a 100 worshippers in a Musjid, the government permits thousands to be in factories, malls, municipal markets, etc. Then what about the millions living in squatter camps, shack-dwellings and slum areas in unhygienic conditions?

If crowds far in excess of 100 are allowed for non-religious purposes, then why can the same standard not be applied to the Mosques? Why can we not have more than a 100 worshippers? Our standard of hygiene is the highest in the world. Besides repeated washings for various purposes, Muslims are required to incumbently perform ablutions a minimum of five times daily for performing ritual prayers (Salaat). Clearly, there is Satanism at play.
1) It is haraam to close the Musaajid as the Qabar Pujaaris (Grave Worshippers) in Pietermaritzburg, and the zindeeqs of Quds Temple in Cape Town have committed.

2) It is haraam to advise old people to perform Salaat at home and to indirectly apply pressure on them to abstain from the Musjid.

3) It is haraam to prevent musallis from coming to the Musjid for Jumuah.

Since the government has introduced this unjust measure, it should enforce it. Muslims should not be a party to enforce this haraam measure. The doors of the Musaajid should always remain open. If the government wishes, it may post guards or police outside the Musaajid and count the entry of the musallis. The atheist guards of the government can then prevent the 101st musalli from entering the Musjid. We as Muslims may not commit this haraam act.

If the government enforces this unjust measure, several Jumuah Salaat should be performed by the musallis. In the same Musjid two or three Jumuah Salaat may be conducted, but with different Imaams. The Salaat should commence immediately after Jumuah. Thereafter another Jumuah should be performed in the same Musjid.

Due to the large number of musallis, several Jumuah Salaat in the same Musjid will not be feasible due to time and the occupations of the people. In such cases, Jumuah should be performed at other venues as well – in Jamaat Khaanahs, open spaces, at the Eidgah, and wherever space is available. But Jumuah may not be abandoned.

In the final analysis, the fate befalling the Musaajid is the consequence of the evil misdeeds, sins and transgression of the Muslim community. Muslims have lost respect for the Musaajid, and have failed to fulfil the Huqooq of the Musaajid. The Musaajid have been cursing the community. Hence what is happening, is the consequences of our own shaitaaniyat.

The cry of India’s Muslims

We are inundated with letters of anguish and despair from Muslims of India regarding the current murder, brutality, pillage and plunder against Muslims by the Modi Hindu cow-worshippers and cow-urine drinkers. We reproduce one such letter verbatim without editing it. A Brother in despair writes:

“Respected sheikh, Aasalamualikum… May Allah bless you. Your advice is very comforting to me. (The Brother refers to an earlier letter we sent him – The Majlis)

I have a doubt again. All my Muslim friends are in peaceful democratic protests in India .

They are attacked by insurgents and police .May be they can be killed in that protests. They are calling me to join them. But I think it is un- Islamic to participate in that protests because they say in their Slogans they can be the guards for democracy. The Constitution of India must be protected according to them…. and they will die for the land ,and so on. Is this islamic?

Will the Indian Constitution become Islamic? For these reasons, if I do not participate in democratic protests… Islamically, can I be wrong?
Should Muslims jihad with the police and Hindutwa insurgents instead of following democratic norms? Is the Indian situation now a Fardh Ayn jihad? Please clarify.”

(End of the Brother’s letter)

Respected Brother, Your e-mail refers.

It is haraam to fight, to get hurt, to protest and get killed for the haraam kuffaar democratic system. It is a ticket to Jahannam. Remain at home, make Taubah, Istighfaar and much Dua. Pledge to Allah that your will obey the Shariah and seek his protection. Allah Ta’ala says in the Qur’aan Majeed:

“If HE (ALLAH) helps you, then no one can defeat you. And, If He abandons you, then who is there to help you besides HIM?”
May Allah Ta’ala guide and protect all the Muslims of India and all over the world. But Allah’s protection will come only if Muslims abandon their kufr pursuits. Struggling and protesting for democracy are shaitaaniyat. These protests in the streets, kuffaar style, are haraam. Islam has only two options: Jihad or Sabr (Patience and Dua), and this entails Islaah of the Nafs, i.e. moral reformation and spiritual elevation. Minus these vital attributes there is nothing but disgrace and destruction for Muslims.

If the Hindu swine police or the Hindu pig terrorists enter your home, then on you, your wife and children, Jihad is Fardh. Take Allah’s Name and fight the pigs and swines with whatever weapon – knife, stick, stone, etc., etc. – you can lay your hands on. If you are killed in this Fardh Jihad inside your home defending yourself and your family, then you will be with Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam), the Siddiqeen and the other Shuhada in the loftiest mansion of Jannat. May Allah Ta’ala keep you all with aafiyat. Was-Salaam

From the frontline of the misguided Syrian ‘jihad’, comes the following desperate call portraying the heartrending conditions of both the tens of thousands of refugees and mujaahideen who are all currently fleeing with their lives and whatever they can carry with them. The massive exodus from Idhlib, the last so-called ‘stronghold’ of the mujahideen and other evil rebel fighters who are no better than the brutal Assad butcher, vociferously and vigourously testifies to the huge error of those who had dubbed the brutal animality of the Syrian conflagration a ‘jihad’. The panic and pandemonium accompanying the flight further testify that Allah Azza Wa jal is magnifying His Athaab for the masses and the ‘mujahideen’ who had displayed staggering ignorance from the very inception of their U.S. conspired and directed ‘jihad.

From …………A Brother currently present in the arena of conflict. Message received today, Friday 7th February
Asalamualaykum. Things are going from bad to worse here in Syria. Sararkib which is about 8km from Idlib city fell last night. They bombing the city itself which is the last stronghold of the Ahlus Sunnah and the Mujahideen. People are fleeing in their tens of thousands. They putting whatever belongings they can carry down on any piece of ground that they can find. It is raining here at the moment and a cold front is approaching. Allah make easy!
All Mujahideen are busy evacuating their families to the Turkish border. They and their families are now themselves Refugees. They also dumping their families on whatever piece of ground they can find.
They also appealing for tents etc. They don’t know where to go or what to do with their families. Lots and lots of aid of every kind is needed.

They are clueless as to what to do next. I really don’t know what is going to happen
Turkey sealed the border. Turkey sent in troops and tanks, but they also fled Sararkib. Whole of Sararkib was surrounded. They managed to break through last night and flee. May Allah Ta’ala have mercy.

(End of the Brother’s message)

“They managed to break through last night and flee.”: This statement may refer to either the surrounded mujahideen or to the Turkish troops.
What is currently transpiring was always a forgone conclusion which never posed any enigma to any person of sound intelligence. We can only supplicate and say: May Allah Ta’ala have mercy!

Sit-in: a comparison

Saleem Safi
November 14, 2019

Sit-in: a comparison
Polybius, the Greek historian, propagated the notion of historic recurrence and the historic cycle of striking similarities. In other words, he believed that history repeats itself. However, his soul would be restless to see the repetition of political history and events in such a short span of five years in Islamabad.

In 2014, Imran Khan marched over Islamabad and staged a sit-in at D-Chowk to protest alleged rigging in the 2013 election. Today after five years, Maulana Fazlur Rehman is leading a sit-in for the same reasons – rigging in the 2018 elections. Imran Khan stood on a container demanding the then prime minister’s resignation. Maulana too has a container and the same demand.

In 2014, when Imran Khan was assaulting the capital with protest, Pakistan was facing daunting challenges on the national and international fronts. Internally, terrorism was playing havoc with deadly suicide bombings on a daily basis. Military operations had been launched in North Waziristan resulting in the displacement of hundreds of thousands Pashtuns. Externally, relations with India and the US were strained. However, in such a testing time, the Chinese president was coming to Pakistan to inaugurate the CPEC project. Unfortunately, this historic visit was postponed due to Imran Khan’s sit-in.

Similarly, today in 2019, Maulana Fazlur Rehman has come to Islamabad with his highly charged but well disciplined followers at a time when the Jammu and Kashmir issue has become a tragedy and the Afghanistan issue has entered a decisive stage. On this account, it seems that there is no difference between Imran Khan and Maulana’s politics and sit-ins. However, in some respects, there are glaring differences between the 2014 and 2019 sit-ins.

First, Imran Khan’s sit-in was legal as long as it remained at Abpara Chowk, since it was permitted by the then government. But it became illegal after moving ahead towards D-chowk by breaking its promise. Maulana’s sit-in is democratic and legal as long as they stay at H-9 Park and do not break the agreement which they have respected so far.

Second, police officers were assaulted and government officials were threatened during Imran Khan’s sit-in but nothing such has happened yet in Maulana’s sit-in. Third, in Imran Khan’s sit-in the sanctity of state institutions was violated with impunity: dirty clothes were hung in the premises of the honourable Supreme Court, and parliament and the PTV center were attacked. But in Maulana’s sit-in, nothing of the sort has happened yet.

Fourth, Imran Khan’s sit-in did not even spare the media. They pelted the Geo office with stones and misbehaved with female journalists like Sana Mirza and Farhat Javed. But in Maulana’s sit-in we have seen touching scenes of a female reporter who is reporting in the rain while Maulana’s supporter is holding his own umbrella over her to protect her from the rain. Moreover, Imran Khan’s sit-in split the media while Maulana’s sit-in helped, albeit for some time, with a slight decline in media censorship.

Fifth, Imran Khan’s sit-in was widely alleged to be a scripted show and fingers were also raised towards the umpire but Maulana’s sit-in is free from such allegations and impression – and in some aspects has even been seen as the opposite. Sixth, Imran Khan’s sit-in was dominated by the middle class, mainly from central Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Maulana’s sit-in has brought the poorest class of society from KP, Balochistan, Sindh and the Seraiki Belt. However, there is no meaningful participation from Central Punjab. Similarly, Imran Khan was seen on the container along with citizens of Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom, but there is no one of dual nationality on the container with Maulana.

Seventh, Imran Khan’s sit-in was more like a party with full entertainment for participants. But nothing of that sort is happening in Maulana’s sit-in. Only poems and Naats are being played. Except for Eid, there were no congregation prayers in Imran Khan’s sit-in, but in Maulana’s sit-in prayers are held five times a day on a daily basis.

Eight, the Imran Khan sit-in was a single political party show and there were no leaders of other opposition parties with Imran Khan. Even the Chaudhry brothers, who supported the sit-in, used to go stand with Tahirul Qadri – the imported political cousin of Imran Khan. Ninth, no opposition parties – like the PPP, ANP and the MQM – supported Imran Khan’s sit-in. On the contrary, opposition parties like the PPP and ANP backed the PML-N government despite their own grievances against the system. But now all of the opposition has stood with Maulana on the container and demanded the resignation of the government and fresh elections.

Tenth, Imran Khan’s sit-in benefited Musharraf and his successors and damaged the democratic forces. But Maulana’s sit-in has been a great test for Musharraf’s successors and rejuvenated the democratic forces. Last but not the least, the PML-N faced the main brunt of Imran Khan’s sit-in but now the PML-N seems to be the main beneficiary of Maulana’s sit-in.

This is the difference which is visible between the two sit-ins. However, what hasn’t changed is the stance of students of politics like us. In 2014, we accepted Imran Khan’s right to protest but opposed the toppling of an elected government though coercion and sit-ins. Today, we also support Maulana’s right to protest but strongly oppose any forced overthrow of the government.

In 2014, we were requesting Imran Khan that, while he had a right to protest, he should not take the law into his hands. But he was not in the mood to listen. Now we make the same request to Maulana. He has listened so far. Let see what he does next.

Beyond Elected Government. Just Government

“If a dog dies of thirst at the bank of Euphrates, how shall I answer for that to Allah.”
By Khalid Baig

“Surely, Allah commands you to fulfill trust obligations toward those entitled to them and that when you judge between people, judge with fairness.” [An-Nisa 3:58]

This is an essential verse of the Qur’an to be consulted by anyone who wants to understand Islam’s teachings about governance and government. While it talks about discharging trust obligations and being just in all situations, it has special implications for staffing and running public office.

Amanah (discharging one’s trust obligations) and Adl (Justice) are highly stressed attributes of believers. Sayyidna Anas, Radi-Allahu unhu, says: “It must have been a rare sermon in which the Prophet, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, did not say the following words: ‘One who has no amanah has no iman (faith) and one who breaks promises has no religion.’ ” Yet these all important qualities become even more so when a person is occupying a position from where he can affect other people’s lives. Thus, Ulema explain that this verse specifies that all positions of authority are a trust to be given to those who are qualified for them. Further it specifies that whenever a Muslim is in a position to adjudicate a case between any two parties, he must do so with justice and fairness.

The conduct of the Prophet, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, in this regard and his numerous sayings on the subject further highlight the importance of this command. According to one hadith, if a person who has been charged with some responsibilities relating to the general body of Muslims gives an office to someone simply on the basis of friendship or connection of some sort without regard to the capability or merit of that person, the curse of Allah falls on him. None of his acts of worship are accepted, whether mandatory (fard) or voluntary (nafl).

We can discern some very important principles from the above.

First, the selection of people for positions of authority, and their behavior once in office, is a religious matter. Islam does not recognize the separation of religion and state.

Second, these positions are not a right of the people but a trust from Allah to be discharged according to His commands with utmost concern for justice for all. Third, the people so chosen must be good, for the good of the society depends on that.

From this we can begin to see the difference between Islam and that immensely advertised political system called democracy. Democracy is concerned with the mechanism for selecting people for government. Islam is concerned with the outcome of that selection. Democracy makes a huge virtue of its mechanism— the electoral process. But, mechanisms can and do change with time and circumstances. The two leading models of democratic government, England and the U.S.A., have different systems for electing the head of the government and the legislators, and their systems have also changed over time. Further, anyone overly impressed with the outer trappings of American Democracy may do well to remember a little known historic fact: Many in the U.S. wanted to make George Washington the King of America, but it was the distaste of the Revolutionary days for things English that kept monarchy away from the leading democracy of the world.

What matters most is what sort of rulers and managers of public life result from the process. Yet democracy is silent about it. It wants an elected government. Islam goes much further. It wants a just government.
What if corrupt people get elected through fair elections? Democracy offers no serious answer to this question. Early leaders, like James Madison, claimed: “People will have the virtue and intelligence to select men of virtue and wisdom.” But more than two centuries of history have made nonsense of this proposition. Just recently a convicted liar and known sex-offender occupied the highest office in the U.S., and the public was not even concerned. So much for “men of virtue.”

What if democracies turn into tyrannies and the elected people commit atrocities against mankind?

It is sufficient to glance at the historic record of the last century. The only use of atom bombs was made not by a rogue dictatorship but the leading democracy in the world. The atrocities committed by European powers against each other in the two world wars were mostly the works of democratic governments. Just recently we saw with horror what happened in Bosnia, and Kosova. Yet the Serb leader had been an elected one. In Kashmir, where Indian atrocities are no less serious but are much less publicized, the democratic world is quite happy that India is a democracy. We are constantly reminded that Israel— a zionist apartheid country built on stolen land and sustained through constant oppression, torture, and treachery against the people whose land was stolen — is the only democracy in the Middle East. Well, what does that say about the system of government called democracy?

Democracy’s record on the home front is equally unenviable. It is no secret that in the U.S. real power lies with big corporations and wealthy people. Manufactured consent replaces informed public opinion and provides the façade for the “government by the people.” One result: Pockets of abject poverty in the richest nation in the world. In a country that grows so much food that it does not know what to do with all of it, there are thousands of people who go hungry or eat off the trash. What is more, nobody thinks the system of government has anything to do with it. Nobody loses sleep over it, not the least the elected rulers. Now contrast this with the Islamic Khilafah, where Sayyidna Umar, Radi-Allahu unhu, worries: “If a dog dies of thirst at the bank of Euphrates, how shall I answer for that to Allah.”

The widespread popularity of democracy indicates the yearning people have for justice, righteousness, and fairness that democracy promised but never delivered. Democratic movements had started out with the noble intentions of ending the tyranny of autocratic rulers. However, as with all other efforts aimed at reforming human society that were free from divine guidance, they could not reach their goal. The world needs to know that it will find it in Islam. But before that the billion Muslims living in the world today also need to discover that fact.

Unfortunately, our preoccupation with the vocabulary of democracy has shifted our focus to the electoral process and away from the requirement for establishing a just government.. The sooner we realize our mistake, the better.

Why is Homosexuality Prohibited?

Salam! I am a teenager from pakistan. I am doing my a levels. Several people around me are supporters of the lgbtq community. As much as I try to condemn it is hard doing so overtly as it ends up in me being ostracised. In all honesty I am not clear on islams view on homosexuality. Why it’s forbidden and when they ask me why I’m against it I end up saying because islam says so but obviously it says so for a reason. I want to know why so i can refute the argument of such people and hold strong in my faith. They interpret quranic ayat is ways that make it seem okay. They quote imams who condone homosexuality. I am truly confused. I have tried to do an online search on the matter numerous times but to no avail as all website say It’s wrong but not why. If it’s because of procreation isn’t that an exceeding problem with the growing population anyway. Please try to get back to me so that I can clear my view on the matter. I don’t wear the hijab or pray 5 times a day so is my not condoning homosexuality just as bad because I’ve heard that. JazakAllah.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Sister in Islam,

We make dua Almighty Allah grants you the tawfeeq to get back onto the straight path, perform your daily Salaahs and adhere to the laws of hijab.

Engaging with individuals inclined to homosexuality is a sensitive and delicate matter. Thus, when dealing with homosexuals, we should not aim to disgrace or humiliate anyone. We engage with them with the same level of dignity and respect afforded to every fellow human being. It is of utmost importance to note that we as Muslims show displeasure and resentment towards the sin itself, not the sinner. We deal with them in the same manner we deal with those burdened with other major sins such as alcohol consumption, gambling or adultery.

As Muslims, we are bound to follow and abide by the commandments of Almighty Allah whether we understand the logic and wisdom behind the laws or not. Hence, we are completely subservient to Allah. As Muslims, we vehemently guard our beliefs and protect our beliefs from any action that will compromise our (Imaan) faith and belief in Allah Ta’ala.

As Muslims, we believe that Almighty Allah has revealed a perfect and practical religion that will be applicable to us until the end of time. This perfection leaves no room for editions and reinterpretations. Consider Verse 3 of Surah Maaidah,

Translation: “This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favour upon you and have approved for you Islam as the religion.”

It is evident from this verse that once Almighty Allah has decreed a law, we cannot decide to change or alter it simply because it suits us.

Homosexuality has been prohibited in both the Holy Quran as well as the Hadith.

Almighty Allah makes mention of the people of Lut (Alayhis Salaam),

Translation: “And (We had sent) Lut when he said to his people, Do you commit such immorality as no one has preceded you with from among the worlds? Indeed, you approach men with desire, instead of women. Rather, you are a transgressing people.”

As far as the Quranic narrative is concerned regarding the nation of Lut (Alayhis Salaam), the classical jurists are in unanimous agreement that the sin of the nation was homosexuality. It was not the rape of men, as is claimed by proponents of homosexuality.[1]

As for prohibition from the hadith,[2]

Translation: “Allah does not look at a man who enters (has sex with) a man or a woman in the behind.”

No amount of reinterpretation can escape the apparent and intended meaning of the above hadith. To deny the prohibition of homosexuality is to deny the Quran and Hadith. Evidently, that is extremely detrimental to ones faith.

Nevertheless, your main query remains unanswered as of yet. Why is homosexuality prohibited?

To understand this, one must first acknowledge that Almighty Allah has laid down a Deen for us to practice upon. None can question Him with regards to the ‘why’. It is also imperative to understand that many laws of the Shari’ah cannot be understood. For example, why do we have to specifically pray five times a day? Why have men been prohibited from wearing silk? In the same vein, why is homosexuality prohibited?

We are first and foremost, the slaves of Almighty Allah. The position of a slave is to obey without question. This worldly abode is no more than a test from Almighty Allah. Almighty Allah has allowed and permitted many things. However, He has also imposed restrictions. These restrictions range from what we are permitted to consume all the way to the extent to which we may derive pleasure from our spouses. An example of this is the case of anal intercourse with ones spouse. This has been prohibited as was understood by the hadith quoted earlier.

However, jurists of the past have ventured to try and explain some wisdoms behind certain rulings and laws. Quite a few remain unexplained even till today. When it comes to homosexuality, most have stated that it is an unnatural ‘filthy’ act. It goes against the basic principles of procreation and is considered to be beneath human dignity.

We shall now list a few arguments made for homosexuality and the responses.

#1. Is this act actually unnatural?

Today we find advocates for homosexuality claiming that this act is not ‘unnatural’, as it has been observed amongst animals as well. If the criteria for defining the morals and ethics of humanity is based on conformity with actions of animals, then we truly are a lost cause. How many strange and odd practices are found in the animal kingdom? Will we venture and assert that they too are ‘natural’? It has been observed that a female mantis will bite off the head of its mate during intercourse. Other unnatural acts range from necrophilia to Apophallation! Is all this now ‘natural’ simply because animals do it?

If we do accept homosexuality as a natural inclination, will we also accept as natural all other bizarre inclinations experienced by people such as necrophilia, paedophilia, bestiality and incest? What would be the main difference between all these acts? In actuality, this is the direction society is currently headed towards. Some countries have begun legalising consensual incest between adults! Are these really morals and ethics we wish to emulate?

#2. Why is it a problem if it doesn’t harm anybody?

An argument often raised is that no one is harmed in homosexuality as it is a consensual act between two adults. Consider this, if two siblings consensually agree to sleep with each other and refrain from creating inbred offspring, will this now be acceptable since there is no harm? May Almighty Allah protect us. How was a line drawn between an inclination which is acceptable and an inclination that is not? We must understand that the morals and ethics set by Allah are objective, whereas the morals of secular societies today are subjective. This is evident if one were to observe societies today. How then can we alter our values and morals, especially if the alternative is pure self-indulgence.

#3. Why was I born with these inclinations?

Another argument often put forward is that these are inclinations one was born with. This cannot be accepted as Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alahyi Wasallam) has clearly stated,[3]

أن النبي صَلى الله عَلَيه وَسَلم، قَالَ: كُلُّ مَوْلُودٍ يُولَدُ عَلَى الْفِطْرَةِ

Translation: “Each child is born upon a natural disposition.”

In Islam, the discussion of whether these urges are because of ‘Nature’ or ‘nurture’ is really quite irrelevant. By this we do not mean that we do not have an answer to this question. We believe that the fitrah that Allah created us upon is that, in terms of sexuality at least, opposites attract. But it is likely that some people have corrupted this fitrah themselves, or it has been corrupted by external methods.

More often than not, these inclinations develop as a result of environmental influences, similar to what is seen in many other human traits. It is possible that this rise in unnatural inclinations is because of the proliferation of hypersexuality all around us. Everywhere one looks, the eye is met by pictures, posters and advertisements of nearly nude, beautiful men and women. This has desensitized us to such an extent that we now crave more and there is no end in sight. Looking at barely covered models hardly arouses us anymore. Our sexual desires have now become insatiable.

Children do not portray sexual interest in other genders until ages that are close to puberty. Are we to believe that they remain unaffected by the sexuality and decadence constantly flaunted in their faces? All these factors play a much larger role than given credit in determining sexual preferences.

#4. I do have these inclinations. What now?

Hypothetically speaking, if we were to accept that an individual does ‘naturally’ experience these inclinations, then such feelings still do not justify acting them out. This will be considered to be a test from Almighty Allah. Remember, one will not be questioned regarding his inner thoughts. However, once these thoughts are brought into action, one will have disobeyed Almighty Allah. An innate inclination towards homosexuality does not render it ultimately acceptable. A person experiencing such thoughts is required to curb his desires, just as in the case of one who is inclined to a woman who is Haraam for him. Both are required to control their desires and abstain from indulgence.

#5. What does the Bible have to say in this regard?

Islam is not the only religion to condemn homosexuality. Consider the following passages from the Bible,

Corinthians 6:9-10 English Standard Version (ESV)

“Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.”

Leviticus 18:22

“You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.”

Leviticus 20:13

“If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.”

#6. Is incest illegal?

Incest laws:

In the United Kingdom, as per the Sexual Offences Act 2003, sex with an adult who is related as parent, adoptive parent, grandparent, child, adopted child, grandchild, brother, sister, half-brother, half-sister, uncle, aunt, nephew or niece, is illegal.[4]

In South Africa, according to the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act, 2007, incest, bestiality and necrophilia are prohibited and classified as illegal.[5]

Article 213 of the Swiss Penal Code prohibits incest. Intercourse among siblings or other persons related by blood in direct line is punishable by up to 3 years’ imprisonment.[6]

In conclusion, the religion of Islam is the final religion revealed by Almighty Allah. The laws laid down are to maintain human dignity and cover all possible aspects of human life. A Muslim is required to submit to this and accept the commands of Almighty Allah. The propaganda of the west is at constant war with the values of our Deen. These are difficult times we live in. We must stay steadfast upon the truth no matter how difficult. Bear in mind that this is a sensitive and delicate matter. We must always conduct ourselves with dignity and represent our faith with the character of our beloved Prophet (Sallallahu Alahyi Wasallam). This beautiful religion of ours does not promote hate in any form.

We also advise you to keep the following hadith in mind,[7]

Translation: “Ibn Abbas narrates, I was behind Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) one day when he said, O boy! I will teach you a statement. Be mindful of Allah and he will protect you. Be mindful of Allah and you will find him before you. When you ask, ask Allah. When you seek aid, seek the aid of Allah. Know that if the entire creation were to gather together to benefit you, you would never get any benefit except that Allah had written it for you. And if they were to gather to harm you, you would never be harmed except that Allah had written for you. The pens are lifted, and the pages are dried.”

Whilst commentating on this hadith, Ibn Rajab Hanbali (Rahimahullah) explains that Almighty Allah will protect ones Deen so long as he is mindful of the laws and commands of Almighty Allah. If he begins to ignore these commands and duties, Almighty Allah no longer protects his Deen. This is why faith related doubts are created in the heart and mind.[8]

You have stated that unfortunately, you are not very particular upon your Salaah and hijab. Insha-Allah, by rectifying yourself and striving against yourself, you will see these doubts gradually depart your heart and mind.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
